Browser Permission for Platform Feeds

The PriceSquawk web app talks to the Sierra Chart study or the NinjaTrader plugin running on your own PC. Modern browsers treat that as a website reaching "apps on your device" and ask for your permission the first time. Until you allow it, the Platform tab stays on Reconnecting and the plugin window shows the app as disconnected, even though the plugin is running.

Open Add Symbol > Platform and click Connect. Your browser should then show the prompt. Click Allow and the symbols from your platform appear within a few seconds.

If you dismissed or blocked the prompt, the browser will not ask again. Use the steps below for your browser, then reload the page.

Chrome

The prompt reads "app.pricesquawk.com wants to look for and connect to any device on your local network" or "...connect to apps on your device". Click Allow.

If it was blocked:

  1. Click the icon at the left of the address bar (the tune or lock icon).
  2. Turn on Apps on device, or click Site settings and set Apps on device (also called Local network access) to Allow.
  3. Reload the page and click Connect on the Platform tab.

You can also open chrome://settings/content/siteDetails?site=https://app.pricesquawk.com and change the permission there, or click Reset permissions so Chrome asks again.

Microsoft Edge

The prompt is the same as in Chrome. Click Allow.

If it was blocked:

  1. Click the lock icon at the left of the address bar, then Permissions for this site.
  2. Set Local network access to Allow.
  3. Reload the page and click Connect on the Platform tab.

The global setting is under Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All permissions > Local network access. Keep Ask before accessing turned on so Edge can prompt you.

Firefox

The prompt reads "app.pricesquawk.com wants access to other apps and services on your device". Tick Remember this decision and click Allow.

If it was blocked:

  1. Click the permissions icon at the left of the address bar.
  2. Next to Access other apps and services on your device, clear the Blocked entry with the x.
  3. Reload the page and click Connect on the Platform tab. Firefox asks again; click Allow.

The global list is under Settings > Privacy & Security > Permissions > Device apps and services > Settings..., where you can remove or change the entry for the PriceSquawk site.

Still not connecting?

  • Make sure the plugin is running on a chart and its window shows you signed in.
  • The plugin and the web app must be on the same PC.
  • The plugin listens on port 5050 by default. If you changed it, set the same value under Dashboard Settings > Platform Port.
  • The message under the Connect button tells you which of these it could not get past.
