NinjaTrader 8 Plugin

PriceSquawk for NinjaTrader 8 is an indicator that runs the PriceSquawk audio engine directly inside NinjaTrader. Signed in to your PriceSquawk account, it can also run in bridge mode, which makes your NinjaTrader chart symbols available in the PriceSquawk web app so you can use the web interface, widgets and sound engine. Everything runs locally on your PC.

Requirements​

  • NinjaTrader 8 on Windows
  • A PriceSquawk account with an active free trial or a plan that includes the Platform data source (Basic or dxFeed)
  • For bridge mode: your browser and NinjaTrader on the same PC

Install​

  1. Download PriceSquawk-NinjaTrader-Installer.exe.
  2. Close NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader keeps the plugin loaded while it runs, so the installer cannot replace it.
  3. Run the installer. Confirm your NinjaTrader 8 user folder (normally Documents\NinjaTrader 8). The installer copies PriceSquawkV5.dll into bin\Custom and the PriceSquawk_V5 indicator source into bin\Custom\Indicators.

Because the installer is new, Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.

If you installed an older PriceSquawk for NinjaTrader before, the installer removes its files for you. NinjaTrader 7 is no longer supported.

Add the indicator and sign in​

  1. Start NinjaTrader 8. It compiles the indicator on startup. If NinjaTrader was already running, open New >> NinjaScript Editor and press F5 to compile.
  2. Open a chart, right-click it and choose Indicators, then add PriceSquawk_V5.
  3. The PriceSquawk window opens. Click Sign In. Your browser opens the PriceSquawk sign-in page; sign in with your PriceSquawk account and return to NinjaTrader. NinjaTrader stays responsive while the browser is open, and you can click Cancel at any time.

Use it in the web app​

With the plugin signed in and running on a chart, open the PriceSquawk web app, click Add Symbol and choose the Platform tab. Your NinjaTrader symbols are listed; pick one to start listening.

Connection settings (advanced)​

Most users never need to change anything here. In bridge mode the plugin and the web app connect to each other over a local WebSocket on localhost, using port 5050 by default. If that port is taken on your PC, change it in the PriceSquawk window and set the same value in the web app under Dashboard Settings >> Platform Port.

Troubleshooting​

  • The browser asks to allow apps on your device - click Allow. The web app needs your permission before it can reach the plugin on your PC. If the prompt was dismissed or blocked, follow Browser Permission for Platform Feeds, then click Connect on the Platform tab.
  • PriceSquawk_V5 does not appear in the indicator list - NinjaTrader has not compiled it yet. Open the NinjaScript Editor and press F5, then check the Log tab for errors.
  • Compile error about a duplicate PriceSquawk_V5 - an old PriceSquawkNT8.dll is still in bin\Custom. Close NinjaTrader, delete that file, and compile again.
  • "Not connected to Platform" in the web app - make sure the indicator is on a chart, NinjaTrader is receiving data, and the PriceSquawk window shows you signed in. Then click Retry Connection.
  • Port in use - the PriceSquawk Sierra Chart bridge and the NinjaTrader plugin share the default port. Run one at a time, or change the port on one of them.

Uninstall​

Close NinjaTrader, then remove PriceSquawk for NinjaTrader 8 from Windows Settings >> Apps. This deletes the plugin DLL and the indicator source. NinjaTrader recompiles without them on next start.
