Advanced Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Default | Range | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ticks to Pitch | Number | 1 | 1 - Max | Controls how much the pitch of the sound changes relative to price action. The number of ticks price must move before pitch changes by one semitone. Lower values = more pitch variation. |
| Pitch Range | Number | 40 | 1 - Max | Sets the maximum range of pitch movement (in semitones) before the pitch recenters. Use demo sounds to fine-tune this setting for your instrument's typical range. |
| Sound Duration | Number | 50 | 10+ | Length of sound effect played for each price tick in hundredths of a second. E.g. 50 = 0.5 seconds. Shorter durations work well for fast-moving markets. |

Use Cases
Primary Use Cases
- Price Direction Monitoring: Get instant audio feedback on market direction without watching the screen. The tempo and pattern of sounds provide insight into momentum and volatility.
- Hands-Free Price Tracking: Monitor price movement while analyzing charts, reading news, or managing other tasks. Audio cues keep you connected to price action.
- Multi-Market Awareness: Use multiple Price Ticker widgets for different instruments to monitor correlations and relative strength without additional screen space.
Trading Scenarios
- Breakout Confirmation: A sudden increase in the tempo of up or down sounds can confirm a breakout from a consolidation range.
- Momentum Shifts: Changes in the rhythm and frequency of price ticks can signal momentum shifts before they're obvious on charts.
- Range Trading: In range-bound markets, the alternating pattern of up/down sounds helps you sense when price approaches range extremes.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues
- No Sound:
- Check that the widget is not muted (speaker icon in the widget's top-right corner)
- Check that the browser tab is not muted
- Ensure you have selected a symbol and that the market is open and trading
- Use the Sound Library to test sounds are working
- Pitch Doesn't Change:
- Decrease the Ticks to Pitch parameter. If set too high, sounds will have the same pitch across a large price range.
- Pitch Changes Too Rapidly:
- Increase the Ticks to Pitch parameter to smooth out pitch variations
- Increase the Pitch Range to allow more price movement before recentering
- Sounds Too Short/Long:
- Adjust Sound Duration to change how long each tick sound plays
